Sony unveils eVTR - Products - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Post, March, 2002

NEW YORK -- Sony (www.sony.com/professional) is bridging the gap between video systems and data networks with a new release that makes its debut at this April's NAB show in Las Vegas. The eVTR is a plug-in card for Sony's MPEG IMX VTRs that connects units over a Gigabit Ethernet network.

Using the eVTR plug-in card, MPEG IMX VTRs can transfer video segments as files over IP networks to other MPEG IMX VTRs or servers anywhere in the world. Additionally, the eVTR enables remote control of VTRs, allowing users in one location to roll tape on a VTR in another location.
