Visual Matrix intros SD/HD processor - Products - XBox - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Post, March, 2002

BURBANK, Calif. -- Visual Matrix Corp. (www.visualmatrix.com), has introduced the XBox, a high definition and standard definition frame-based image processor. The modular unit is designed for video format, aspect ratio conversion and image enhancement.

Aspect ratio controls includes vertical and horizontal anamorphic stretch, a black matte generator for black bars, zoom of up to 160 times and realtime pan and scan controls. A touch-panel screen allows users to create a range of custom pre-sets.

The XBox can improve the quality of upconversion on video material originally transferred from film. If the source contains a 3:2 sequence, provided via an outside pulse from a telecine, the XBox can reassemble the original film frames in upconversion. The XBox is capable of performing up-conversion of off-speed PAL (24 fps) to 1080 or 720p by performing an internal 3:2 pull down.
