Cole acknowledges that it takes "a leap of faith" on the part of clients to adapt to his way of working. "But once they do it, they love it," he says. "It comes down to my clients trusting in my judgment and experience to create the best possible product. Pro Tools\HD provides me with the best possible tools. My clients have come to realize that you don't need a million-dollar console to achieve a million-dollar mix."
Cole doesn't book himself from 9 am to 5 pm. He works the schedule his projects demand. He sends a tape of his first mix pass to clients for review at their convenience. They give him notes, and he revises the mix. For final review, clients can come to Pirate Post or he can pull his drives and go to another studio. "It's all about being more efficient and flexible for the client," he says.

An added benefit of working from home is Cole's ability to spend more time with his toddler daughter. "I can see my daughter grow up and earn a living at the same time," he smiles.
