Guerrilla independents: thanks to today's affordable tools, pros can work anywhere

Post, March, 2005 by Christine Bunish

Sometimes Vanasse uses VelocityQ as an on-set editorial tool for rough cutting spots with no visual effects. He employed the system on a campaign for advertiser CDW with director David Ramser of The Artists Company, cutting the spots together at the shoot. "I burned a DVD there that David could take away and use for reference," Vanasse recalls.

Vanasse is currently working with Leitch to develop other systems that will be able to deliver ever-more advanced capabilities during shoots. "The guys at Leitch listen to my ideas and make serious efforts to deliver systems that meet my needs," he says. "I feel more like a team member with them than just a customer."
