MONTREAL -- At NAB, Discreet (www.discreet.com) announced that its Flint visual effects system will soon be available on the Intelbased IBM IntelliStation Z Pro workstation running Linux. Flint system is designed to provide broadcasters and post production companies with a cost-effective, high-performance system for interactive motion graphics and visual effects design. The company's Smoke 6 system is already available on the Linux operating system.

Flint offers mixed resolution architecture, advanced conform capabilities and realtime 4:4:4 video. Version 8.5's tools are based on Discreet's Flame and Inferno visual effects systems.

Flint 8.5 system for Intel-based IBM workstations running Linux is currently in beta and is expected to ship in July.
