AJA supports DVCPRO HD codec

Post, May, 2004

GRASS VALLEY, CA -- AJA Video Systems' (www.aja.com) new Kona 2 SD, HD and dual-link HD capture card fully supports the DVCPRO HD codec used in Apple's recently announced Final Cut Pro HD.

Kona 2 enables Apple's DVCPRO HD format to be used with any HD-SDI source, including existing HD decks such as Panasonic D-5, Sony HDCAM and HDCAM SR. The DVCPRO HD codec also allows online quality at significantly smaller file sizes and disk requirements.

DVCPRO supports both the 720p and 1080i HD.

Developed in cooperation with Apple, Kona 2 captures and outputs DVCPRO HD media to HD-SDI. Kona 2's hardware performs part of the DVCPRO HD processing, freeing up the CPUs power when outputting to HD-SDI.
