MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - Pinnacle Systems (www.pinnaclesys.com) is offering a complete nonlinear editing system -- Edition for the PC -- aimed at the ever-growing prosumer market with a price point of $699. Edition, says Pinnacle reps, offers PC users a "complete video publishing solution" that will compete directly with Apple's Final Cut Pro on the Mac. Pinnacle created Edition using technology acquired when it bought Fast Multimedia The NLE comes bundled with Hollywood FX, Title-Deko RT, Commotion 4.1, Alpha Magic and Impression DVD Pro 2.2. The product, available July 15th, includes a 1394 PCI card and cable to capture and output digital video.

Editors using Adobe Premiere NLE on a PC need additional video cards and software to achieve an end-to-end video publishing system, but this is not the case with Edition, says Pinnacle's VP/GM Jerry Thompson Optimized for workstations with dual Intel Xeon processors, Pinnacle has been working with PC manufacturer including HP, IBM, Dell and Sony to optimize Edition into a turnkey solution on Windows 2000 and Windows NT platforms.
