Post, June, 2003 by Marc Loftus
NEW YORK -- Pomann Sound (www.pomannsound.com), here, recently completed audio post work on a series of commercials for ABC Sports promoting their coverage of the IRL racing league. The project was conceived, produced and edited by New York City's The Concept Farm.
Sound designer/principal Bob Pomann is an avid race fan, so he was thrilled to have the opportunity to go on location to the Homestead track in Miami to record authentic sounds of the cars. He spent three days recording sound elements, using a 24-bit HHB portable disk recorder and a combination of Audio Technica and Sennheiser mics. Much of the recording took place during qualifying, Pomann notes, where only one car was on the track at a time and noise from the public address system was minimal. ABC Sports also provided car sounds from their library.

The package consists of a half-dozen spots, the longest of which is :30 in length. Pomann used his studio's Eventide Orville processor and the TC Electronic 6000 for finalizing. Editing and mixing was performed on a DSP Postation II.
Aria Boediman served as mixer: Additional credits include ABC Sports VP of advertising & promotion Cindy Vannoy and writer/producer Russell Brooks, John Laskas and Dave Gioiella cut the spots for The Concept Farm.
