Military history

Post, June, 2004

NEW YORK -- History International called on NYC's Zona Design (www.zonadesign.com) to create an identity and promo package for "Military History," a weekend programming block that airs on The History Channel. The four-hour block takes place on Saturday and Sunday evenings and presents a wide range of military-themed programming, including shows on history, events, figures and weapons.

Zona used a combination of Alias Maya and Adobe's After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator to pull off the project. The package includes a :10 open, promotional tools, transitions, close and line-up menus. Its look calls on strong military iconography--tanks, battleships and planes--as well as an Army/Navy color palette that was enhanced with metal, grit and mud tones. Stenciled text, closely identified with military equipment, was used as the type font. Compositing techniques brought together diagrams, maps, general bars, camouflage and other military icons.

Zoa Martinez served as creative director on the project. Dennis Fluet was executive producer. Senior designer Mark Lee, 3D animator Carlos Molinas and compositor/designer Keith Kin Yan all contributed toward the finished package.
