SANTA MONICA -- Goodspot has completed production and post on a :30 promo for client DirecTV and its program Music in High Places. The design and editorial house handled the concept and production for the spot, as well as the animation, original sound design and editorial. Goodspot also provided DirecTV with a toolkit of elements that could be used to create additional promos throughout the season.
Music in High Places profiles popular recording artists by sending them to far-off, unusual locations, including Nepal, Vietnam, Tuscany and Brazil, to showcase their acoustic work.

Goodspot's creative director, Sonia Lamba, explains, "We chose to develop a piece that was very organic in its design nature. Our concept was to translate music in a visual sense. We wanted to convey a sense of the exotic, while depicting a sense of adventure, and setting it all against a musical beat."
Sound design for the spot was inspired by the visuals. As the wind dances on the screen, the letters of the main title form against a musical crescendo of simple acoustic sounds, including piano keys, the strum of a guitar and the beat of a drum.
Senior designer Lenis Ramos, designed and animated the sequence, creating a rough cut on an Avid Media Composer and then using Alias\Wavefront Maya to create a three-dimensional, organic environment of clouds and letters. The letters and clouds were then composited with the final footage using Adobe After Effects 5.5.
Christian Perez was Maya animator and Luis Martos was editor. Martos also created the soundtrack along with creative director Lamba.
