Post, July, 2003
NEW YORK -- Taking viewers floating along a visual journey that reflects the elements of Bombay Sapphire's branding, Psyop (www.psyop.tv) created Drift, a new :60 film for Bombay Sapphire Gin via Margeotes Fertitta & Partners.
This is the second year where the agency and Bombay Sapphire invited a select number of directors to pitch a "Bombay Inspired" idea. The agency picked two ideas, Psyop's animated concept and a live action idea directed by Randy Roberts of Rhythm and Hues, LA.

In Drift, Psyop created a meditation that is also a love story, where a man and woman have a connection but never meet; their only connection is through the cause and effect of natural occurrences. The spot opens with a woman softly wishing on a dandelion, its drifting puffs the first step on a poetic journey. Viewers seemingly drift through air, curving through open waters and a bird's tree-branch-landing that shakes a centipede to earth. A dark moment occurs when a centipede twists free of a tangle of roots, then rises to disturb a band of fluttering moths as they flutter toward light. The moths suddenly burst into a cluster of dandelion puffs. The drifting puffs land gently on a man's palm and a wish is granted.
Co-directed by Psyop's Kylie Matulick and Todd Mueller, the team used Softimage\XSI and Discreet Flame to create the animation and other design elements were done with Adobe's Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects.
