Exotic visions - Postings

Post, July, 2003

SAN FRANCISCO -- Twenty2 (www.twenty2.com) completed two short films, Yangshuo and Yuen Pa, which combine heavily composited live action and design images. Shot on 16mm in China, Yangshuo features rich, live action and landscape footage composited with elements such as stylized cloud and fan graphics, ink on paper drawings and shadow projections. Yuen Pa is set in a bird sanctuary and combines footage of exotic birds with illustrations from children's books.

Footage was digitized using Apple Final Cut Pro. Twenty2 partners Terry Green and Nori-zso Tolson used transparency settings, layers and blurs in Adobe After Effects, which was also used for all the compositing. In addition, After Effects was used to stabilize and motion track the hand-held footage, for color correction and for sequencing.
