Pepper and pork puppets

Post, July, 2004

HOUSTON -- Locke Bryan Productions (www.lbp1.com) recently worked with local agency Lopez Negrete Communications on a series of whimsical television commercials for Fiesta Mart Supermarkets. Locke Bryan directed the 12 spots, which feature puppetized food characters based on the products found in the store. A plantain, clam, pepper, and pork chop each deliver a humorous monologue.

The commercials were shot on a miniature set, designed by Kamikaze of Mexico City, and were hand animated by puppeteers from Puppet Pizzazz. Using a Zebra motion control system, each scene was programmed and shot in 35mm with multiple passes to allow for clean foreground and background plates.

Locke Bryan Productions used an Avid Symphony and Avid Media Composer for offline. Avid|DS was used for rotoscoping, masking and finishing. Additional rotoscoping, background animation and title animation was handled using Adobe After Effects.
