Soundminer manages DAW assets - Audio

Post, August, 2003

TORONTO -- Soundminer (www.soundminer.com), a manufacturer of asset management software for Mac-based Pro Tools and Nuendo audio systems, is shipping its Soundminer 3.0 (OS 9 and OS X) and Ripper 3.0 (OS X) tools.

Soundminer allows users to digitize their commercial sound effects CDs, complete with pre-built waveforms, and all the manufacturer's metadata, as well as create an unlimited number of databases to search, audition, edit, process, batch transfer and spot their sound files into Pro Tools sessions.

Soundminer 3.0 includes ProTools 6, Nuendo 2 and OS X support, as well as a playback engine that allows users to play and transfer any sound from 22kHz to 192kHz, 16- or 24-bits in SD2, AIFF, BWAV, MP3 and AAC formats. It also allows for multichannel audio file playback and includes a built-in multichannel mixer. Included in Soundminer is Sound Digger, which allows users to search for sounds that"sound like" a given selection, while "QuickTime spotting" opens up any QuickTime movie and synchronizes sound selections directly to picture to see if they fit.
