MIAMI -- Assimilate, a new player in the digital intermediate market, will be at this year's IBC show with previews of its initial product line. The company is headed up by chairman Jim Meadlock and CEO Jeff Edson, both formerly with Intergraph, which introduced Intel/Windows NT solutions for the digital media market in the mid-'90s before being acquired by SGI.
Assimilate (www.assimilate.com) has acquired DIP R-evolution, which was at the recent NAB showing technology demos. DIP R-evolution founders Gerk Huisma and Nacho Mazzini join Assimilate as CTO and VP of sales, respectively.

For the IBC show, Assimilate has plans to preview its initial product line. The tools will be based on modular, open-platform software running on commodity hardware. This plan, says the company, will allow users to build a cost-effective DI pipeline, along with a complete workflow solution and a project management system.
"We're talking to customers about what they really need from technology, and it's obvious there's a call for fresh innovation and greater cost-effectiveness," says Edson.
