Huge offering new RAID arrays

Post, August, 2004

A GOURA HILLS, CA -- Huge Systems (www.hugesystems.com) is at SIGGRAPH with its new MediaVault U-320RX Dual Max RAID storage array, which is now shipping. The system supports up to two Ultra320 SCSI channels with a maximum of 10 hot-swappable disk drives.

Scalable storage ranging from 1.2TB to 2.5TB per array and the ability to daisy chain up to four Dual Max arrays allows for a maximum solution of up to 10TB.

The company tested a U-320RX with dual-channel SCSI array with both Linux and Windows operating systems and recorded a read rate of 460 MB/sec with a write rate of over 380 MB/sec. Its Real Time RAID (RTR) is designed to reconstruct data on the fly and a soft failover capability passes data off to another drive where it is reconstructed and remounted in the event of a failure.

The MediaVault U-320RX can be configured in RAID 0 (performance) or RAID 3 (protected) operation. Pricing is set at $6,789/1.2 TB, $7,309/1.6TB, and $9,949/2.5TB.
