Somersault, Avenue collaborate for MGD - Studio

Post, Sept, 2003

CHICAGO -- Somersault (www.somersault.net) and its sister company Avenue recently collaborated on a new spot for Miller Genuine Draft out of agency Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago. The Screenwriter spot takes a look at the inner thoughts of a young and struggling writer who is trying to create an opening to his story. He finally arrives at a scene that is set in a steam room, filled with towel draped women.

Artist Bjal of the design and effects house Somersault established the style and behavior of the typography, going with a syncopated effect for the motion graphics. "I created the type for the MGD mnemonic in Illustrator on a Macintosh computer," he notes. "I processed, composited, animated and edited the sequence in Flame on an SGI Octane."

The commercial was edited by Avenue's Tom Perschke, who's cut numerous MGD spots in the past. Audio post was handled by Cory Coken, also at Avenue.
