The Mindlab opens offering Pro Tools training - Audio - Brief Article

Post, Sept, 2003

MENLO PARK, CA -- The Mindlab Learning Center recently opened here, offering Digidesign Pro Tools software and hardware training as well as the opportunity to obtain "Operator" and "Expert" certifications. Mindlab was founded by former Digidesign employees who feel they can offer students a wealth of inside information on how to use the Pro Tools digital audio workstation.

Mindlab president Russell Bond recently became owner of Menlo Park, CA, recording studio The Annex, where the school is located.

The Mindlab Learning Center (www.themindlab.us) is currently offering six authorized Pro Tools courses: Pro Tools 101: Introduction to Pro Tools; Pro Tools 201: Pro Tools Production Essentials; Pro Tools 210M: Music Production Techniques; Pro Tools 210P: Post Production Techniques; Pro Tools 310M: Advanced Music Production Techniques; and Pro Tools 310P:Advanced Post Production Techniques.

In addition to the standardized Pro Tools offerings, Mindlab has plans to offer courses on specific audio plug-ins for Pro Tools and Master Classes with recording engineers, composers and sound designers who use Pro Tools in their professional audio production work.

The training facility has two rooms: a Pro Tools-100 level lecture room, equipped with Mac and Windows XP computers with seating for up to 12 students, and an Advanced Curriculum room featuring four TDM systems equipped with a 32-fader ProControl with Edit Pack and three Control 24 units.

Robert Campbell, a 10-year veteran and former hardware product manager for Digidesign, is Mindlab's GM/head instructor. Other Mindlab instructors include long-time Digidesign employees Tom Dambly (curriculum developer), Mark Kirchner (post production director) and Tom Murphy (Internet audio technologies).
