"Editor's need to know how to use the tools and the general aspects of editing, but there's a wide range of specialization that they can go from there," notes Flanagan. "Whether it's editing reality TV or sitcoms or independent films, major films, commercials, music videos, there are a lot of different options. For each of these there are certain craft aspects and certain workflow aspects. We get a lot of working editors that are commercial guys but want to learn about reality TV. Editing for those two [genres need] completely different skills with different workflows and needs."
