Breakaway borrows

Post, Sept, 2004

BOULDER, CO -- TDA Advertising, here, got creative for client Breakaway Sports by re-purposing another company's commercial to promote the lacrosse equipment retailer. Using a spot from the Ferrero Auto Center in Loveland, CO, the creative team was able to deliver a commercial to Breakaway for just $500.

The "re-purpose" concept was even humorously mentioned in the spot itself, supporting the retailer's belief in helping "to keep prices down."

42 Productions (www.42productions.com) in Boulder provided post services for the project, including graphics, which were laid over the existing commercial. Paul Lee served as editor/graphics artist on the project using Apple's Final Cut Pro, running on a Mac G4, for editing and the tool's titling capabilities for the graphic's text. Engineer/colorist-in-training Spencer Blair used Digidesign Pro Tools to record his own voice for the spot's VO. Owner/founder Peter Coggan served as executive producer on the project.
