FANUC Announces CD-ROM Training - FANUC Robotics North America Incorporated - Brief Article

Automotive Finishing, Fall, 2000

Fanuc Robotics North America introduces its first computer-based training CD-ROM, Robot Operations, a course that targets robots and the operation of robots. The company developed the course keeping the novice learner in mind and covered basic skills and concepts needed to operate and program a robot. The CD lets customers train at their own convenience.

Hands-on training is still necessary after completing this course, but it opens up various options to the customer at great timesavings. The average amount of time to complete the course is 4 hours. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

* Demonstrate or explain how to safely cycle power from the standard operator panel, observing recommended safety practices;

* Describe or explain how to move the robot in the joint and world jog modes, anticipating the robot's direction and speed using the teach pendant;

* Describe or demonstrate creating and making changes to teach pendant programs; and

* Describe or demonstrate how to access, test, abort and run a program in a production environment.
