PPG Honors Developers of Auto Coatings - PPG Industries - Brief Article

Automotive Finishing, Winter, 2000

Individuals responsible for development of automotive coatings that became singular business successes for PPG Industries, Pittsburgh, PA, were honored with the company's President's Award for Technical Achievement.

Honorees are chosen biennially by the PPG Collegium of active and retired personnel whose outstanding career contributions have established substantial product and process innovation. Recipients receive a cash award and plaque; their business units also receive plaques.

The awards recognized the employees most responsible for proprietary technologies that created high-performing waterborne, high-solids base coats that are the most widely used automotive original equipment color paints in North America and gaining broad use in Europe.

Honored for their contributions were Dennis Faler, Roxalana Martin and Gregory McCollum at the Allison Park, PA, coatings research center; Deborah Davila and Mary Ellen Rosenberger, Cleveland, OH, coatings facility; and Walter Metzger and Manfred Wunsch, Ingersheim, Germany, coatings application research center.
