Ametek Specialty Metal Products, Eighty Four, PA, has completed a $1.75 million expansion of its powder metal manufacturing facility. The expansion adds a second production line for Ametek's Motor Vehicle Series (MVS [TM]) 400 high quality metal powders, increasing the capacity for the stainless steel and high alloy metal powders by 30%.

Demand for stainless steel powder for automotive applications has grown considerably in recent years, especially for passenger car exhaust system flanges and camshaft lobes for sport utility vehicles.
