Sibanye Inc. celebrates seven years serving Baltimore residents - Celebrations - Brief Article

Black Issues Book Review,  Jan-Feb, 2002  by Mondella S. Jones

Seven years ago Sibanye Inc. co-owners Robin Green-Cary and Mary Douthit wanted to bring African-American writers to the Baltimore area. Book tours usually passed through Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., but skipped Baltimore--much to the dismay of local readers. After years of attending literary events and forming relationships with authors, publishers, publicists, editors, book clubs, and booksellers, Green-Cary now brings many of the best African-American writers to Baltimore; and she also sponsors her own literary conference (see Events Corner).

Last year, Green-Cary and Douthit won the 2001 Cathy Hughes Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Green-Cary, who also participates in the annual Baltimore Book Festival, is a member of the Literary Coalition and serves on the American Booksellers Association's Booksellers Advisory Committee.

Sibanye carries Afrocentric clothing, art, gifts, accessories, natural hair and skin products, and of course, books. For more information call (410) 542-0193, or log onto www.sibanye.com.
