Sisters are Cashing In: How Every Woman Can Make Her Financial Dreams Come True

by Marylin French Hubbard Berkeley Publishing Group, January 2000, $14.95, ISBN 0-399-52572-6

One can easily find hundreds of books that will supposedly get you out of the poor house in a hurry. They urge you to invest in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. They encourage you to purchase their become-a-millionaire plans, the key word being "purchase." They even advise you to consolidate your bills. However, they don't help you to get a clear understanding of how you got caught up in your money problems or offer a way of developing a positive relationship with money.

If you are having financial planning problems--large or small--get to your nearest bookstore and read Marilyn French Hubbard's Sisters Are Cashing In: How Every Woman Can Make Her Financial Dreams Come True. Although conversational in tone, Hubbard, founder of the National Association of Black Women Entrepreneurs, Inc., is direct--sometimes painfully so--telling you what your problem may really be. "Because of our poor relationship with money, we often live in poor financial, emotional, and physical health, feeling stressed, depressed, and sometimes hopeless," Hubbard says. Just think back to your childhood. When you got your allowance, did you spend it no sooner than you got it or did you put some aside for savings and splurge with the rest? According to her, your answer may say a lot.

Even if your prior experience with money was devastating, Hubbard offers hope. But, you must be willing to acknowledge that you need help, seek help and remain committed. Otherwise, you'll remain in a cycle of financial hardship. So if you're ready to "cash in" and reap the benefits of a healthy, wealthy, and financially satisfying life, your process begins with this book. It's a timeless, priceless, and life-changing gift.
