The theme for this year's Arbor Day National Poster Contest is "Trees are Terrific ... inside and out." The contest encourages students to show off their creative flair by designing a poster to reflect this year's theme. Contest packets are now available to fifth-grade teachers and administrators upon request.

Teachers who sign up will receive a free activity guide on how trees grow and function, including in-depth lesson plans, hands-on activities and contest information. The national winner of the contest will be announced on National Arbor Day, April 26, 2002. To sign up, educators can write to: The National Arbor Day Foundation, P.O.
