Arts & Activities, Sept, 2002
Set of 8 posters/$49. Level: All Ages. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025, (800) 255-8629.
This third set in the "Know The Artist" series includes eight full-color, laminated 18" x 24" posters designed to introduce students to an array of artists. Each poster features one large artwork, as well as a section labeled "The Gallery," which includes five or six smaller prints accompanied by helpful explanatory captions. A map and a timeline provide additional information. Each poster also features a picture of the artist, biographical information, a pronunciation guide and a discussion of art technique.
An informative Teacher's Guide provides the teacher with the opportunity to pre-plan lessons and to reinforce knowledge of each artist and his or her work. Related activities for each print are also suggested. Artists featured in this set include Paul Cezanne, Marc Chagall, Janet Fish, Winslow Homer, Paul Klee, Raphael, Wayne Thiebaud and Grant Wood. This is a highly recommended set of posters that would be a valuable classroom resource for use by all ages.--B.H. For information about this program, circle No. 395 on the Reader Service Card.
