Sticker Artists

Arts & Activities, Oct, 2000 by George Szekely

SOME FINAL STICKY THOUGHTS Stickers are children's mini-canvases, they are artworks that can be magnetized, worn or carried. They can be made or discovered. Stickers can be collected, used as displays or decorations. A fun media, stickers are used as art supplies and played with as imaginatively as any toy. Sticker artists demonstrate that children's art comes in all sizes and forms. Sticker collectors often become stamp collectors, noticing the beauty of stamps, and perhaps these same collectors will also be at the forefront of building the important art collections of the future.

Professor George Szekely is Area Head of Art Education and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
