MASKMAKING WITH FOIL. Video/20 min./$24.95. Level: All ages. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025, (800) 255-8629.
Artist/educator Peggy Flores uses heavy-duty tooling foil and aluminum foil to demonstrate how to model masks in this step-by-step video. She shows the viewer how to make three-dimensional masks, starting with a paper and pencil design, before proceeding to sculpting and modeling the foil. Colorants and sculpting tools are used to create decorative three-dimensional forms. Ms. Flores also demonstrates glue-gun techniques, adding feathers, raffia, faux jewels and pipe cleaners to enhance the masks. The video concludes with a variety of examples of student-made masks. This is an excellent video that uses readily available materials to create handsome products and stimulate creative thinking. --B.H.
