Perspective - posters on perspective - Brief Article

Arts & Activities, March, 2003 by Barbara Herberholz

Set of six posters/$36.95. Level: Middle through High School. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025-6159, (800) 255-8629.

This new set of 22" x 28" colorful posters by Gerald. F. Brommer, and released by Crystal Productions, fulfills an often-wished-for tool in the classroom. Beginning with the first poster, one-point perspective, each one contains diagrams, photographs, drawings, definitions and explanations that should make the teaching of perspective an enjoyable challenge and an understandable task. Poster #2 covers two-point perspective, both looking down on a box or building, or up at a tall building. Puzzling multiple vanishing points are clearly explained in the fourth poster, while the sometimes-neglected concept of drawing circles and cylinders is visually and verbally dealt with in poster #5. The concept of drawing equally spaced receding forms is also explained. The sixth poster deals with atmospheric perspective and overlapping shapes. The posters are ideal for classroom display or individual student use. Do yourself a favor if you are teaching drawing and get this excellent set of posters. You and your students will be glad you did. For information about this program, circle No. 398 on the Reader Service Card.
