Video/25 min./S19.95. Level: Grade Six and Above. Public Media/Home Vision Entertainment, 4423 W. Ravenswood Ave., Chicago, IL 60640, (800) 826-3456.

In 1922, archaeologist Howard Carter realized a lifelong dream when he and his crew broke through to a wall of pure gold and found the sacred burial chamber of King Tut, the boy king who died at the age of 18. This occurred in an area that had been sealed for over 3,000 years. The ancient Egyptians believed King Tut was a god who would live forever, so they buried him with a king's ransom. This documentary takes us into the ancient shrine and to the Cairo Museum, as well as the New Orleans Museum of Art, for magnificent close-ups of the wondrous artifacts that were found in King Tut's tomb.
