Recently released by RENAISSANCE PUBLICATIONS is The Art of Drawing, Part I: Essential Skills for Lifelike Drawing, a VHS or DVD home-study course by American artist/educator/author Larry Gluck, founder of the Mission: Renaissance schools in California. Since 1975, people have attended Gluck's schools, where natural talent is not a requirement.
In fact, the school is considered the last outpost for learning traditional fine-art skills. Until now, only people in Southern California and Canada could benefit by attending Mission: Renaissance. The Art of Drawing is the first home-study course to use Gluck's process of instruction that teaches the underlying principles of sketching and drawing. Visual demonstrations show how to construct drawings from basic geometric shapes, how to correctly proportion the elements of the subject, how to accurately represent perspective and how to build and refine their drawings. For more information, circle No. 390 on the Arts & Activities Reader Service Card.
