Arts & Activities, April, 2002
Duncan Enterprises, a leading manufacturer of crafts and hobby ceramics products, will donate ceramic glazes in support of the National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ) project, Wall of Hope: A Rhode Island Community Response. NCCJ, a nationwide human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in America, established the Wall of Hope project to help Rhode Islanders heal in the aftermath of the tragedy of Sept. 11.
Over the course of the year, up to 10,000 Rhode Islanders will come together to paint, creating a tile with his or her vision of hope for the future. In its completion, the Wall of Hope project will generate a permanent, large-scale mosaic of individually hand-painted tiles. On Sept. 11, 2002, NCCJ will host an unveiling event at the site of the wall.
