The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art opens - arts update

On November 22, 2002, a museum created for all ages will open in Amherst, Mass. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art will encourage an appreciation of the visual arts and the development of analytical thinking in a museum environment specially designed for young visitors. In its inaugural year, this innovative and unique museum will exhibit works by founder Eric Carle, renowned author and illustrator, as well as thematic and retrospective exhibitions of works by picture book artists Maurice Sendak, Nancy Ekholm Burkert, Mitsumasa Anno and Robert Ingpen.

Museum visitors will be able to create their own masterpieces and learn about the techniques of guest artists in the museum studio. For more information, visit www.picturebookart.org.
