Young artist - Brief Article

Arts & Activities, Nov, 2003 by Gloria Tesch

Creating art is my favorite thing to do. It's wonderful to make pictures that express myself. I enjoy the process of making my pictures and sculptures, and seeing the art that I have made always makes me feel proud.

My favorite media are oil paints and clay. I usually get my ideas from my imagination, but also from things I see every day. When I want to make something, it pops into my head and--boom!--there it is for me to make.

My favorite things to draw are mostly animals, especially birds. If I need help or get stuck, I can ask my art teacher or my mother for help and they always have a suggestion for me.

I enjoy looking at books about art and artists. Picasso's pictures inspire me. Just seeing all the amazing colors and shapes makes me want to make art. I think that God gave me a special gift and I want to learn as much as I can and be the best artist that I can be.

When I look back at the art I have made last year, I can see the difference and how much better I have become. I hope to continue to learn and improve my skills so that when I grow up I can make art all the time and it will be my job. To me, art is the most beautiful thing in the world.
