Who Is the Artist? PAINTERS OF THE AMERICAN SCENE and PAINTERS OF FANTASY ART. Two Videos/28 minutes each/$29.95 each; $54.95 set. Level: Ages 9 and Up. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025, (800) 255-8629.
These two new videos from Crystal's "Who Is the Artist?" series were developed by consultant Kay Alexander and are designed to teach students how to recognize works of master artists by their style, techniques, composition and subject matter. An excellent selection of 24 images in each video is accompanied by a commentary by the presenter that enables students to become familiar with the works of each artist. This is followed by a game-like quiz that asks the viewers to name the artist while observing paintings by these artists that they haven't seen before. Benton, Wood and Hopper are featured in the first video, and Chagall, Magritte, Klee in the second.--B.H. For information about this program, circle No. 398 on the Reader Service Card.
