[VHS/CD/VISUAL] Who is the Artist? LICHTENSTEIN, THIEBAUD, WARHOL. Video/25 min./$29.95. Level: Ages 9 and up. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025, (800) 255-8629, www.crystal productions.com.
Students are introduced to three Pop artists in this new video from the Who Is the Artist? series produced by Crystal Productions. Highlighted are 24 artworks by Roy Lichtenstein, Wayne Thiebaud and Andy Warhol. The hostess introduces viewers to each artist and then shows other works by the same artists and asks students to identify who made each one. We see full-screen paintings, along with close-ups of a number of works by each artist: Warhol's soup cans, Thiebaud's pies, cakes and gumball machines, and Lichtenstein's enormous paintings of details seen in cartoons, all painted in his Benday dot technique. A good teaching/learning tool and a pleasure to view for classroom interaction.--B.H. For information about this program, circle No. 398 on the Reader Service Card.
