VaLoy Eaton wrote: "I come from a family of pioneers, people who built the farms and ranches that spread out over the valley. Here's where I was born and raised, and this is my favorite place to paint. It's remote, has great sunlight spilling across a wide-open valley, and has all different types of landscapes. There are towering trees, livestock that has to be moved from season to season, and great trout fishing."

Eaton is a modest man. He has sold more than 1,600 paintings since he started to paint full-time over 30 years ago. In his preface, Senator Orrin Hatch wrote: "I call the Eaton paintings 'realistic impressionism.' There is an impressionistic quality to VaLoy's work that evokes an image fear will ever forget. His rich palette and his genius use of hallmark themes--landscapes, holly-hocks, streams, and mountains--all are so magnificent they render words insufficient to describe their luminous beauty."
