THE CAVE PAINTER OF LASCAUX. VHS or DVD/8 min./$29.95. Level: Elementary. Crystal Productions.
In eight short minutes this video brings to the screen the story of the Lascaux caves as written by Roberta Angeletti. Using the same colored pencil illustration found in the book, this story is perfect for young children beginning the study of art history.
Narrated with the voice of a young girl, background information about the caves and life in the Stone Age is presented in a very viewer-friendly manner. A surprise guest appears in the story only to be topped by another surprise visitor, both of whom shed light on what life was most likely like many, many years ago. A companion book to the video is also provided.--P.H.
