TAKE 5: The Art of Sport. Set of five Art Prints/Teacher's Guide/$44. Level: All grades. Crystal Productions, P.O. Box 2159, Glenview, IL 60025, (800) 255-8629.
This new set of five posters continues Crystal Production's tradition of quality and excellence in its Take 5 series. The 18" x 24" reproductions on The Art of Sport are printed on sturdy laminated stock and packaged in a clear vinyl portfolio. The excellent color quality of each print is consistent. The Teacher's Guide provides abundant information on presenting the works to students along with information about each artist and artwork, and suggestions for interdisciplinary activities. On the back of each print, one finds much of this same helpful information, including a guided analysis that deals with the cultural context, the elements and principles of design, media and techniques, and comparisons of that artwork with other works of art. Included in the series are Fast Break by Red Grooms, Football Player by Duane Hanson, Munich Olympic Games by Jacob Lawrence, Mural of Sports by Joseph Rugolo, and Skating in Central Park by Agnes Tait.
