Crizmac

Arts & Activities, Dec, 2004

CRIZMAC has just received a new collection of Josefina Aguilar's clay market figures from Oaxaca. Josefina's handmade, one-of-a-kind figures are known internationally for their unique primitive style and vibrant colors. For over 20 years, the ceramicist has extracted her own clay from the land outside her hometown of Ocotlan, pounded the clay, created her figures, fired them and painted them to form fantastic colorful market figures. Her market vendors carrying flowers, fruits and vegetables and a variety of animals are great examples of clay art for any classroom or folk-art collector. Visit www.crizmac.com or circle No. 400 on the Arts & Activities Reader Service Card for more information.
