In his 36 years, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec created over 725 oil paintings, 275 watercolors, more than 325 prints and posters, and around 5,000 drawings. Toulouse-Lautrec: The Moulin Rouge and the City of Light, from ABRAMS BOOKS FOR YOUNG READERS, is an important new book that follows the artist, in photographs, from birth until death.
Featuring black-and-white pictures of Lautrec and full-color images of his most significant works, with an emphasis on his contributions to the then-burgeoning art of poster advertising. This is a must-have volume for art teachers and aficionados alike. The book is published in association with The Art Institute of Chicago and the release of ii coincides with a traveling exhibition of Lautrec's work. The exhibition can be seen through June 12 at The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and July 16 through October 10 at The Art Institute of Chicago.
