GREEK ART FROM PREHISTORIC TO CLASSICAL. Tote Box, CD-ROM, Lesson Plans, Slides, etc./$65. Level: Middle and Secondary School. Yale University Press, P.O. Box 209040, New Haven, CT 06520-9040, (203) 432-0964.
This handsome package of resources for educators was a group effort published in association with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, through a grant from Mr. and Mrs. Frederick P. Rose. Thorough, complete and enticing, the materials in the Tote Box provide teachers with abundant information on Ancient Greece, including a history of Athens from the sixth to the fourth century B.C.; key aspects of fifth-century Greek life, extensive coverage of Greek art, artists and materials; "hunts" inside the museum; class activities; and lesson plans. Twenty slides, with accompanying color illustrations and information about them, are found on separate sheets. A large color poster is included. A "go-fish" style card game will be enjoyed by young and old while they learn about 13 favorite Greek myths. Highly recommended for integrating art in the curriculum.--B.H.
