The IBM-compatible PC is having a less-than-stellar 20th anniversary with price wars and poor margins. Intel is poised to take on rivals with deep discounts later this month. Money-losing computer maker Gateway said it would shutter international sales operations in Ireland and Britain and reevaluate its efforts in Asia.

And Iomega will take a charge and lay off 38 percent of its workforce due to declining sales of its storage devices.
