Teen Job Boards - Company Business and Marketing - Brief Article
Industry Standard, The, Nov 20, 2000 by Lesslie A. Gordon
With 12 million teenagers online and 3 million looking for part-time work this fall, it's about time that someone founded Juniorjobs.com, a job search site for teens. The founder is, naturally, a teen: Saied Ghaffari, a high school junior from Virginia. Ghaffari is working on the site with his mom, Davar Ardalan, a National Public Radio producer. (Ghaffari's grandmother was the site's first investor.)
Since the site launched in September, it has received more than 100,000 hits and has no direct competitors yet. Employers can post jobs for free until Dec. 1, after which it will cost $50 - although a portion of those fees will go to charity. The pilot launch is focused on jobs in northern Virginia, but it will soon feature jobs throughout the country. Juniorjobs has received one round of angel funding so far.
