NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-24 April 2002-SSH Communications Security to focus on data security software (C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The Finnish-based IT company SSH Communications Security Corp has decided to discontinue the development of virtual private network hardware and instead concentrate on its core competence, the development of software-based data security and management products.

SSH began to develop VPN hardware in early 2000. The company says, however, that the products have not been able to establish a strong position in the market within the set schedule and therefore their marketing is no longer justifiable. SSH hopes to be able to outlicense the VPN hardware technology.

In addition, SSH has today (24 April) commenced employer/employee negotiations with the aim of reducing its personnel by 30-40 people. Through the planned workforce cut the company hopes to improve its profitability and cost structure.
