Saab Aerospace and others sign Eurotraining study contract

The Swedish high-technology group Saab AB said today (2 December) that its subsidiary Saab Aerospace and four other European aerospace companies had signed a contract for the Eurotraining Feasibility Study with the DGGA (General Directorate for Aeronautical Armaments).
Saab said that the DGGA acted on behalf of the air forces of twelve European countries.
The objective of study was to define possible solutions and their life cycle costs for an integrated Advanced European Jet Pilot Training (AEJPT) system, Eurotraining, to be introduced around 2010, Saab said.
The study would cover all aspects of advanced jet pilot training including a new trainer aircraft, ground based systems, syllabi, infrastructure and implementation, Saab added.
The other aerospace companies were Aermacchi of Italy, Dassault Aviation of France, EADS-CASA of Spain and EADS-Deutschland of Germany. Aermacchi acted for the consortium.
