The Swedish telecomms equipment maker Ericsson said today (18 June) that it would build a virtual private network (VPN) for the Chinese operator Guangdong Mobile Communications (GMCC), a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications.
Ericsson will build the multiprotocol label switching (MPLS)-based VPN onto GMCC's existing provincial backbone network using equipment developed by its US-based partner Juniper Networks.
The deliveries in the nine cities of the Guangdong province have already begun and are expected to be completed by the end of August this year.
