Nokia wins 3G network contract in Germany

The German mobile operator E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH & Co KG has selected Finland's Nokia as the main supplier of its third generation (3G) mobile network.

Nokia has won a EUR150m contract to supply a major part of E-Plus' UMTS radio access network as well as the entire core network infrastructure. Nokia will also provide implementation, project management and maintenance services to E-Plus. Deliveries will begin immediately.

E-Plus has 7.5m customers and is the third largest mobile operator in Germany. Nokia has earlier supplied both GSM and GPRS networks to the company.
