NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-10 May 2002-Saab Automobile surprised by high sales of older car model (C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The Swedish car manufacturer Saab Automobile has reportedly sold so many of the outgoing version of its 9-3 series that the management has decided to continue the production of the cars.

Sales of the new version of the 9-3 series cars will begin in the third quarter and Saab's factory in Trollhattan, Sweden is at present modifying its production facilities for the new model.

The manufacture of the older version will be made possible by moving the work from Trollhattan to Uusikaupunki in Finland, where Saab already makes a special version of the 9-3, reports the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

Before beginning the modifications of its facilities, the Trollhattan plant produced a lot of the older 9-3 cars to meet the demand for them until production begins in Finland in September.
